Our revendications

People that suffers from mental illnesses and/or addictions aren't a subclass of citizens whose rights can be abolished to the convenience of their landlords. Our revendications are pretty simple, we want to be treated like any other citizen.

-We want the Kettle Society to respect the terms of their contract with BC Housing, specially in relation to the parking spots and the RTA.

-We want the Kettle Society to stop infringing our rights under the RTA. Expensive lawyers and lies can't be an alternative to respecting your contracts with your tenants and with BC Housing.

-We want freedom of association and expression not be infringed. That include the rights to reserve the rooms meant for us in order to meet as tenants, and that your security guards don't take off posters that calls for tenant meetings.

KOB Operating and Amending Agreement

Key takeaways

This document makes it clear that the residential tenancy act applies to tenants at Kettle on Burrard. The Housing Program Manager and the Director of Housing just argued in arbitration that the RTA doesn't apply. By hiring Ripan Hans, from Haddock and Company,  to fight tenants with little self advocacy skills, they successfully opted out of the RTA.
